Welcome to Year 3

PE Days

PE will take place on a Monday afternoon and a Thursday afternoon. Children are to come to school wearing their PE kits , including t-shirt, trainers and jogging bottoms or leggings on this day. Shorts are not required.

Reading

Please ensure your child reads every night. Your child will have a reading log with their reading book for you to sign, so please listen to your children read daily, even if only for a few minutes.  Your child is not expected to complete a book per night but must return the book each day (even if it is unfinished) so that they can read in school reading sessions and make good progress.  Children who consistently forget their reading book or do not read at home will read for a few minutes at playtime with an adult. This is in line with the key stage 2 reading policy from years 3-6.

English and Maths

From the 11th September, homework will be given as a worksheet every Friday and must be completed by the following Thursday. This will give the children the opportunity to complete it at a convenient time – it also allows your child the time to come to me with questions, should they need to. Homework that is not completed will be done in golden time on  Friday afternoon.

Spelling

Children will be focusing on various spelling rules throughout the year. Practise will be completed on Spelling Shed and a list of the spellings sent home. Our spelling tests are done every Friday.  Any child who does not achieve 5 or more out of 10 or 3 or more out of 5 (depending upon  the amount of spellings they bring home) will rewrite them in golden time.
