PE Council

We would like to introduce our PE Council. They are responsible for taking care of the play and lunch time equipment boxes and leading pupil voice questionnaires. They will also be trained by Education Enterprise Legacy in the autumn term to become official ‘Play Leaders’ for the rest of the school. This means they will each lead a different activity during play and lunch times, to hopefully boost our physical activity and physical literacy.

To improve children’s experience of outdoor play at breaktimes we have children in year 5 who have become play leaders! Play leaders are a group of caring children who have been trained to organise activities for other children on the playground. They encourage children to join in games and to extend their friendships. To help them with this we have had thermoplastic markings added to our school yard. They are designed to engage physical activity. Each class now has their own equipment box including items to improve throwing and catching skills, footballs, pokey balls, skipping ropes, and pads for writing and sketching. Mrs Milne our PE Co-ordinator said, “Children are really enjoying using the new equipment so far and I am absolutely thrilled with the increased participation in physical activity”.
