School Closure Update – Key Workers 19/03/2020 5:00pm

PROVISION FOR CHILDREN OF KEY WORKERS

Dear Parents

Following a meeting with local Headteachers and advice from the Local Authority, from next week school will only be open for the following children:

  • Children where both parents are key workers and have no alternative childcare.
  • Single parents who are key workers and have no alternative childcare.

The aim of closing schools is to slow down the spread of Covid-19.  The partial opening of school for a very small number of children is solely to ensure that essential Key Workers can continue to play a vital role in combating this virus.

Our current understanding of possible ‘Key Worker’ categories is as follows however we are still waiting for the actual list from the government.

  1. Delivery drivers of essential services e.g. food and medical supplies
  2. Front line NHS staff
  3. Teachers/ Child care workers
  4. Care home workers
  5. Social workers
  6. Police officers, including Community Support and civilian staff
  7. Prison or probation staff
  8. Firefighters
  9. Armed Forces
  10. Taylor Shaw school cooks

For the children of key workers who meet the above criteria, school will be open during the usual times, including breakfast club from 8:10am.

This arrangement will be reviewed after 2 weeks.

Please contact the Headteacher to confirm that you meet the criteria. In addition, we need to know which days you would require childcare as this would obviously depend on your work days/ shift patterns. This childcare is only available for the days you are at work as we must endeavour to minimize the number of children in school.

Thank you for your continued support.

Mr S Cornforth
