Vice Chair of Governors – Mrs Lorraine Reid

I am a community elected governor who was co-opted and appointed by the full governing body.

  • Term of office end date – 28/09/2023
  • Vice Chair of Governors (expiry 10/10/2021)
  • Member of the following committees – Children’s Committee and First/Pay Review Committee
  • Voting rights on all committees named above
  • Register of interests – None declared

I have recently been elected as a member of the Governing Body since September this year. As an individual who has lived in Willington most of my life, I understand the pressures and issues future generations face in our community. I want to do what I can to help tackle these issues and ensure positive outcomes and an increase in personal aspirations are achievable by all.

My personal commitment and interests are in my child and other children’s development, well-being and education, now and through their school years. As a parent, I want to ensure that not only educational attainment but also a child’s well-being is considered, as an important factor of school life. This approach can be hard to attain with limited resources and funding, but one which I have personally seen Willington Primary take on board and tackle. However, I understand they cannot do this alone and need to work in collaboration with parents to achieve the best outcome for the child.

I therefore became a governor to support my child in his learning and development. By helping Willington Primary to set school targets, which improve and maintain the high standards they have set themselves to treat each child as an individual, I am able to ensure an inclusive, good quality, needs basis education for all.
