Headteachers Message Christmas 2022

This term it has been great to get back to a semblance of normality and create experiences, such as the Halloween Disco and Christmas Fair, that our children have missed out on in recent years. Whilst it has been great to leave lockdowns and masks behind, the return to mixing has led to a surge in colds, infections and sickness bugs due to lowered immunity levels in the community. We thank you all for contacting school to keep us up to date with absences as this saves our busy office staff a lot of time.

A big shout out to our football team and ‘coach Littlefair’ for winning the football league for the second year running! The team have now gone 17 games unbeaten and only conceded 1 goal – an absolutely fantastic achievement!

Can I thank you all for donating items for the Christmas Fair (and then buying them back again!) It was amazing to see so many of you turn up – and the children said they loved it! Well done to the ‘friends of the school,’ organised by Mrs Wilcox and Mrs Exton, for doing such a great job and raising over £1000 for the school!

Unfortunately, we were unable to hold our carol service at the church this year as the church was hosting Year 2 classes from local schools for their ‘Christmas Journey Experience’ – which our Year 2’s thought was great! Instead, we held 2 short (but very sweet!) carol sessions for parents and were amazed with how many of you turned up to support us!

On this theme, thanks to all of you who took part in our Early Years ‘Stay and Play’ and ‘Christmas craft’ sessions. Lots of you even turned up to listen to our nursery children having a go at singing Christmas songs with Mrs Britton – very brave!

On a serious note, it has been lovely to welcome you all back into school for these events and we look forward to many more to come.

Finally, all the staff at Willington Primary hope you have a safe and happy Christmas and we send our best wishes for a healthier New Year!

(And just a little reminder: The first day back is Wednesday 4th January.)
