Our Final Message of 2016!

As 2016 draws to a close I would like to take this  opportunity to thank you all for your fantastic support throughout the year.  This has been particularly evident this week with super attendance at all four Christmas  performances as well as our Christmas Fayre!   It is always lovely to get our school community together at this time of year and we hope these events have put you all in a festive mood.  The performances were wonderful and seeing what the children could achieve with just a few weeks practice fills me with confidence for the future of our school.  A big thank you to all the staff that tear their hair out to create the end product that you all see!

Next week we have our final event – the Key Stage 2 Carol Service (to which you are all invited) at the Methodist  Chapel in Lydia Street.  The volunteers from the church are extremely supportive of our school and it will be great  to celebrate with them at 1:30pm on Wednesday 14th  for the first Christmas in their lovely new chapel.

The Christmas Fayre was hugely successful thanks to the hard work and effort of our ‘Friends of the School’ group of fantastic volunteers.  A massive thank you to Mrs Brunskill, Mrs Liddell and Mr Moores for the many hours of  preparation they put into organising such a great afternoon.  We managed to raise a staggering £1,110 which will go towards equipment and educational visits benefitting all of the children.

To finish this message I would like to share with you the comments made by the nursing team that came into school this week to administer flu vaccinations to our Year 1, 2 and 3 children. The team could not get over how welcoming the school, staff and children were and commented on how well organised, friendly, polite and  positive the children were throughout the process – some of the children even invited them to our Christmas Fayre!!   They finished by saying that they were going to use our school as the ‘gold’ standard of how effectively the process could be run.

On behalf of myself, the staff and governors I would like to thank you once again for your support throughout 2016 and wish you all a Merry Christmas and best wishes for the New Year!

Mr Cornforth
