Royal Shakespeare Dream Team

dream teamThe Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) invited every school in the UK to join the RSC Dream Team to mark Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary. The invitation was part of the Company’s special production of  Midsummer Nights Dream. The RSC have been working with a cluster of schools from the North East in the classroom and two children from our school were lucky enough to travel to Stratford  upon Avon in July to perform in Shakespeare’s birthplace. Rebecca and Lois from year 4  accompanied by Mrs Lamb made the long trip to Stratford upon Avon to perform in The Dell, the RSC’s outdoor theatre. They had a very busy itinerary over their time there including a tour of Stratford, seeing the house in which William Shakespeare was born, meeting RSC staff and actors and of course performing their  section of Midsummer Night’s Dream in front of an audience. Mrs Lamb said ‘Their many rehearsals and hard work paid off! Rebecca and Lois were fantastic and the performance was incredible. I was proud to have them as my pupils’. Head of Young Peoples Programmes for RSC Education said ‘We have been blown away by the imagination,  energy and shear quality of the work. The project has generated a lot of fun and creative expression’
