To enhance year 4’s topic on the Romans they visited Binchester Roman Fort to experience Roman times. The class explored the impressive remains of a Roman bath house and walked in the footsteps of soldiers around the remains of the Commander’s House. They became archaeologists and excavated earth to find Roman artefacts, had a chance to dress as Roman soldiers, designed mosaics and made clay pots.
